111 St Clair Ave W offers a unique living experience in Midtown Toronto. While the location is a strong point, the building itself has some quirks that may not appeal to everyone.

Location & Convenience – 8/10

The Yonge and St. Clair area has a nice, laid-back Midtown feel—quieter than downtown but still close enough to be convenient. The subway station is about a 10-minute walk, which is reasonable, though not as immediate as other condo locations. There are a few restaurants and cafés nearby, but the area isn’t exactly a nightlife hub.

For day-to-day convenience, having an LCBO and Longo’s right on the ground floor is a huge plus. However, the proximity to St. Michael’s Cemetery might be a dealbreaker for some.

Building & Amenities – 7/10

This condo was originally an office building from the 1950s, and that history definitely shows. The lobby is oddly located underground, which, combined with the gym and pool lacking natural light, can make the space feel a bit dim and enclosed—almost like living underground.

One major downside is the lack of visitor parking, and many units don’t come with parking at all, which could be inconvenient for those with a car.

Units & Living Experience – 7/10

The higher ceilings (around 10 ft) are a nice feature, giving the units a loftier feel. Some two-story units facing south are stunning but come with a hefty price tag (around $2M). At that price point, you’d likely expect better natural light for the amenities, unless, of course, you’re a vampire.

The layout of the one-bedroom condos is another quirk. Some tend to be long and narrow, which means less window exposure, making them feel darker than the typical “short and wide” condo design. There are also no balconies, which might be a downside for those who enjoy outdoor space.

Final Verdict

111 St Clair Ave W is a solid Midtown option for those who appreciate high ceilings and a quieter atmosphere but don’t mind some unusual design choices. The lack of natural light in key areas, no balconies, and strange lobby placement might be a turnoff for some. However, the location, grocery store access, and unique history make it a good choice for the right buyer.

Photos of the amenities. I have been to Imperial Plaza before, and it is nice and not too busy. But I do find it lacks natural sunlight
