Review of 101 Charles – 6/10

Location – 9/10

One of the standout features of 101 Charles is its location. It’s just an 11-minute walk to the Bloor-Yonge subway station, making it incredibly convenient for commuting downtown or exploring the city. The neighborhood is vibrant, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and green spaces nearby.

Amenities – 7/10

The building has a nice gym with large windows, which makes working out feel less claustrophobic and more enjoyable. However, the amenities overall are just average compared to other buildings in the area. While the gym is a highlight, there’s not much else that stands out.

Elevators – 4/10

The elevators are a major downside. 101 Charles has only four elevators, which is fewer than its neighbor, 110 Charles, which has six. To make matters worse, the elevators at 101 Charles don’t separate between higher and lower floors, leading to longer wait times and frequent stops. This can be frustrating, especially during peak hours.

Property Management – 5/10

The property management leaves a lot to be desired. One of the biggest annoyances is that visitors aren’t allowed up to your suite without being buzzed in, even if you’re expecting them. This can be particularly inconvenient if you’re in a meeting or otherwise occupied. The management team doesn’t seem very proactive or responsive to residents’ needs.

Unit Layouts – 8/10

The units offer nice exposures. Many of the units have unobstructed views. But it is also very close to Jarvis which gets quite a few sirens for police combating crime in the east end.

Overall Experience – 6/10

101 Charles has its perks, like the great location and gym with windows, but it falls short in key areas like elevator efficiency and property management. If you’re considering this building, weigh the pros and cons carefully. While it’s not the worst option in the area, buildings like 110 Charles across the street offer better features and management.

Added some pics

There is a piano but you can never use it (I don't know why they do this). I studied piano for years but could not use.

Biggest issue is the elevator, only 4 compared to the sister building 110 Charles that has 6. Huge line out the door

Gym is nice but often times the weights are taken. Only 1 squat rack

Lots of my friends say there are elevator issues in this building.
